Sinkhole May Stay as an Attraction at National Corvette Museum

ST. LOUIS, Miss - The 40-foot wide, 60-foot deep Sinkhole May Stay as an Attraction at the National Corvette Museum. Why turn this Corvette-swallowing disaster into an exhibit? Well, the museum has noticed that since the incident, attendance has been up over 50 percent. The sinkhole, and eight vehciles that were pulled out of it, intrigues car fanatics from all over. With such a rise in curiosity, the National Corvette Museum is deeply considering leaving the sinkhole as is. The museum has said that the Sinkhole May Stay as an Attraction, whether it is a portion or all of it with a bridge over top, stairs go down it or a glass floor lies over top so visitors can look down. Plans are in the works between the museum, construction company and engineers as we speak.

As of right now, visitors can view the hole from behind a plexiglass viewing area. The eight cars that fell into the hole are on display outside of the Skydome room until June, when they will be sent off to GM's Heritage Collection, located in Warren, Michigan. According to the National Corvette Museum, they believe four of the cars will be salvageable and some of the others may have to stay alongside the sinkhole display in the future.
