2014 Chevy Volt Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award

2014 Chevy Volt Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award
ST. LOUIS, Miss - Of the 12 small cars tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for the 2014 Top Safety Pick + Award, there was only one vehicle that would drive away with the title. The 2014 Chevy Volt Earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award; it's crashworthiness performance exceeding all other other competitors in both the electric and small car segments.

The most impressive result of the Chevy Volt's testing was the score it received on the IIHS' challenging small overlap front crash test, which is considered to be the most difficult of any head-on tests performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the IIHS. The test replicates if the vehicle were to hit another object, such as a tree, on the front corner of the vehicle at 40 mph.  General Motors designed the 2014 Chevy Volt prior to the development of this challenging test and obtained an acceptable overall score. The IIHS found this thoroughly impressive.

The 2014 Chevy Volt Earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award by accumulating numerous "good" ratings - the highest mark that the IIHS awards in its tests - in four of six categories monitored throughout the small overlap front test.
