Chevy Volts to Transport MBA Students Across the Country for MBAxAmerica Program

ST. LOUIS, Miss - This summer, Chevrolet is providing a group of 32 graduate students with a reliable vehicle to take them to 25 different cities to aid 50 small businesses. Twelve extended-range electric Chevy Volts will transport the MBA students across the country for the MBAs Across America (MBAxAmerica) program. 

This program, now a nonprofit organization, was designed just last year by four first-year Harvard MBA students when they decided to drive across the country and offer free business counseling to help revitalize small business across America. The MBA students will travel 8,000 miles throughout the country in their Chevy Volts, doing their part to recreate America's future. Each week of their trip, the students will partner with an entrepreneur to work through their company's challenges or opportunities and engage with change-makers in the community. All the while, their stories will be shared on the MBAxAmerican blog and national media outlets.

2014 and 2015 Chevy Malibu Leads in Mainstreaming Start/Stop Technology

Start/stop reduces fuel consumption and emissions by shutting off the car's engine while it is stopped, rather than pointlessly idling and wasting fuel. The engine kicks back on in 337 milliseconds once the driver lifts their foot off of the brake. Roughly ninety-seven percent of customers who purchased a Malibu in 2014, which accounts for about 83,000 vehicles, chose the 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine with the start/stop technology. These numbers make for the most aggressive roll out of the start/stop technology in the United States by an American automaker. 

The 2014 and 2015 Chevy Malibu has led in mainstreaming the start/stop technology since last fall, when it was debuted as the first Chevy in the U.S. to have this advanced feature. Shortly after its debut, a J.D. Power's Initial Quality Survey was conducted -which measures the perceived quality of vehicles after 90 days of ownership- and the 2014 Malibu was ranked higher than any other vehicle in its segment. Chevrolet is continuing to focus on spreading innovative technologies such as start/stop across their entire product lineup to help customers save at the pump.

Chevrolet Sends Home Corvette Stingray Z51 with MLB All-Star MVP

ST. LOUIS, Miss - In case you missed it last night, the 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star players  traveled from all over the country to Minneapolis, Minnesota for an epic baseball showdown. It wasn't until after the American League took a two-run win over the National League that one of the biggest honors in the MLB was presented to a very worthy player. 

Once Mike Trout was recognized as the 2014 Ted Williams Most Valuable Player, Chevrolet sent the MLB All-Star MVP home with a Corvette Stingray Z51. As the Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball® since 2005, it was Chevrolet's honor to give Trout a choice between the Corvette Stingray and Silverado full-size pickup. Trout was thrilled to be able to choose his own vehicle and undoubtedly had to go with the 2014 North American Car of the Year. 

Two Chevrolet Corvette Stingrays were at the game and had their hoods autographed by all of the All-Star players and coaches. One of the Stingrays is already up for auction on ChevyBaseball.com, which will continue until 5 PM EDT on August 1st. Chevrolet will provide the MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association with the other autographed Corvette Stingray hood for auction. All proceeds will then benefit MLB Charities and the Players Trust, the 501 (c)(3) charitable organization created and administred by active Major Leagues.

Good Things Rolling Out of GM's New Brake Test Facility

ST. LOUIS, Miss - Good Things are Rolling Out of GM's New Brake Test Facility and very quietly we might add! Say goodbye to a moans, squeals, grinds and goans, because a quiet braking experience is on the rise. General Motors is working to ensure their brakes lead the industry in silence, no matter what the weather condition, with the new brake chassis dynamometer. The new dynamometer is a complex development that was created with help from Link Engineering. In order to ensure that GM had completely removed the squealing noises, a new 14,000-square-foot facility needed to be fully equipped with state-of-the-art accommodations. 

Good Things are Rolling Out of GM's New Brake Test Facility now that engineers are able to locate and address the remaining 15 percent of brake noise frequencies that they were unable to mitigate before. For the 1,000 stop brake tests that took GM two weeks to complete, engineers are now able to tackle in two and a half days -not to mention get 900 more stops in! The test chamber at the new facility in Milford, Michigan, is padded with jagged sound proofing, providing a quiet testing environment and sparing others from obnoxious nosies or vibrants that can occur during testing. The room also accommodates rapid changes in climate and moisture conditions as well as dramatically alter the temperature within 15 minutes.
